Balga

Description

Balga is the Bunuba word for Barramundi. The Balga is my gadinjin, (totem). Each Language group has their own way of getting their gadunjin. Bunuba way is, when the mother is pregnant, if there is any hunting done around the mother (by herself or others), and if an animal is killed their spirit goes into the unborn child. Any mark, (usually the killing mark) left on the animal, shows up on the baby. Mine is scar looking birthmark above my lip, where the fish bit the hook.
